OK, you and everyone else!

My name is Scott Garwood, whilst I no longer provide web design for clients (I stopped doing that in 1999 and stated my own business sites) I have put this page up here for the many people who ask me "can you teach/help me start a web site?"

My answer is always NO!

Why?..... am I an unhelpful person?.....
Absolutely not, but imagine you had at least 1 person a week ask you to teach them how to do your job!

Not likely eh! I don't blame them as I know I am lucky to work from home and set my own hours.

In response to this problem I went searching for a solution, I wanted to find away to help these people (you) as they wanted to start a web site/business, I respect that, I was there once!

In the end the best solution was back with a company that I used to help me get started many years ago, however that is not important.

What is important is this solution for anyone who wants to build a web site but has no idea how.

It's called Site Build It and it allows you to do it all yourself, it covers everything from domain names to hosting to search engine positioning all in one complete package at what I think is a very good price!

If you know how to surf the net and check emails then you already have the skills to use this system. You do not have to be a nerd or spend years learning like I did!

PS here's two quick tips/pieces of advice:

1) A .com address is just as good as any country specific address, .com compared to .com.au is also shorter, if you are targeting international or US based markets .com is the only way to go as they have no idea what your country specific (e.g. .com.au) means.

2) You do NOT need to host your site in the country you are in, this page you are reading is hosted in Amsterdam! Generally the US is the cheapest and provides good quality, site build it handles all that for you though.

Oh yeah, this page is basic, it's just my first domain name I bought when I was web designing back in New Zealand so I thought I would do something useful with it, as I stated I just chucked up this page for some advice for people, I did not do it to win "prettiest page of the year"!
